Too bad that 60s weed bust is preventing him from setting foot on U.S. soil. They're mighty tight with those visas these days.

I think Ginger Baker is fantastic and only gettin better. I particularily love his approach to blues drumming, really showing the connection between blues , african , and jazz drumming roots . A real original. I had the opportunity of attending a master class and meeting him in New Orleans in 1985. His sound is so beautiful when you get to stand right in front of him playing drums in a room. Amazing. He detailed his love for second line New Orleans drumming as well as his love for drumming legends Baby Dodds and Zutty Singleton. I hope you guys like this live excerpt from an Oakland concert Cream did where you can really hear Gingers signature sound. If anyone is intrested I recommend his trio stuff in the last few years with Bill Frisell, and Charlie Haden as well as older solo material on Axiom called Middle Passage. its loaded with some serious six eight african type rhythms .
